This is the time of year that really starts ramping up. Shopping, decorating, planning, running around constantly. Time flies and we know that it does every year. We keep going and so do the days and the hours leading up to not only Christmas, but through the end of the year. With that said, it is important to remember through all the hustle and bustle, we must remain as present in our lives as much as possible. We mustn't forget that giving, generosity, sharing, empathy, community, and the importance of the TRUE meaning of the holiday is what matters most.
As we weave our way through the telling of our designs featured in this year’s Christmas collection, we want to remind you of the theme that will help us impart this message.
A Christmas Carol is a story by author Charles Dickens originally published on December 19, 1843. The tale describes the story of one Ebenezer Scrooge, an elderly man who many would describe as a stingy being, and quite a stiff one at that. Visited by his old business partner, Jacob Marley, and three ghosts throughout this tale, Scrooge’s heart transforms and he becomes a kinder, softer man.
The theme of the story has been reflected on ever since its release as it reminds people to be not only kind to others, but to help them if they are able. While chasing wealth became a priority for Scrooge, nothing could replace the truly valuable things in life such as family, friends, joy, love, and grace, something he missed out on for years. Although he was met with redemption towards the end of the story, it reminds us to live our lives in a way that emphasizes compassion, charity, and forgiveness.
